Where ItStarted.
Money apps have a colder start than any other category: nobody hands their savings to an app they discovered in an ad. The client had strong product metrics but a trust deficit — middling app-store ratings dragged down by early-version reviews, thin search presence, and install costs on paid channels that were rising past what the unit economics could bear.
Growth targets were aggressive, but the real brief was credibility: make trying the app feel safe enough that performance spend could convert efficiently again.
How WeApproached It.
We led with education, not promotion. A bench of personal-finance creators — educators whose audiences already trusted them with money questions — built explainer content around the problems the app actually solved: where savings sit, how withdrawals work, what the fees are. The app appeared as the worked example inside genuinely useful content, not as the headline.
In parallel, a reputation workstream repaired the trust surfaces every prospective user checks before installing: prompting satisfied active users for fresh reviews, responding publicly and substantively to critical ones, and seeding creator-led FAQ content that answered the exact objections surfacing in comments.
Performance marketing closed the loop. Creator content became the ad creative, retargeting pools were built from education-content viewers, and install campaigns launched only after the trust groundwork was visibly in place — so every paid click landed on stronger ratings, better answers, and familiar faces.
What WeDelivered.
45+ personal-finance educators produced explainer-first content where the app featured as the worked example, never the sales pitch
Review-generation flows prompted satisfied active users at high-satisfaction moments, rebuilding app-store ratings with current, authentic reviews
Public, substantive responses to critical reviews and creator-led FAQ content addressed the objections users actually raised
Creator explainers repurposed as performance ad creative, with retargeting pools built from engaged education viewers
Weekly cohort reporting tied install cost and activation rate back to each creator and content angle
They treated trust as the growth lever, not a PR afterthought. Fixing the ratings and leading with education is what made our paid spend work again — the install numbers followed from that.
